We had been told that some of
the ATM's in Krakow did not recognise some of the 'chip n pin' cards from
the UK. Yes we did have some difficulty using the Machines with our HSBC
Maestro cards, but the one inside the Pekao bank on Szpitalna street
worked. Also the ATM on the street opposite the bank worked.
(Szpitalna street is just a few minutes walk from Market Square.
We did take some local currency with us, purchased from
Sainsbury's Plc, but at a very poor rate compared with the exchange rate
that we got using our cards at an ATM. |
