Trip Report

Budapest

January 2008

Introduction

Ok. So this is the boring bits.

We first visited Budapest back in the Spring of 2006 (for trip report of that visit please see http://djmp.co.uk/bvp/).    We intend to revisit again the next year, but EasyJet stopped their flights from Bristol after just one season. Late last year we found that RyanAir had started flights again from Bristol.
On 10 December we booked our flight with Ryanair, outward 14th January 18.50 GMT return from Budapest 18th at 22.05.    We wanted to book the Agro Hotel again but it was fully booked for the dates required, so after searching Tripadviser's reviews we booked the Normafa Hotel, a hotel just down  the road from the Agro.

Some of the FORINTs we took with us

Before we went we obtained 34,000 forints (from First choice travel) at a very poor rate of exchange, just 306.6ft to the pound.   From the cash machines in Budapest the rate was 325.4.
We took two travel books with us, "The lonely Planet" and "DK's Eyewitness Travel Guide". The "DK's Eyewitness Travel Guide" was the best.
The return flight from Bristol to Budapest cost just £79.96, including all taxes etc. for both of us.   The Hotel cost just £131.01 for 4 nights.  That's a total of £210.97.
